Personal/Social Counseling

Welcome to the Advising and Counseling Center. We hope you have a positive experience and feel that part of your satisfaction depends upon your understanding of the services we provide. If you have any questions, please ask the advisor or counselor you are seeing for further explanation.

  • The Center is staffed by professionals who help students clarify their goals, identify behavioral and social obstacles, and explore available resources for achieving those goals.
  • The Center offers short-term non-clinical counseling and guidance to students needing assistance in adjusting to college life. Advisors and counselors will work with students to develop their own insights into the decision-making process through a healthy, growth-oriented interpersonal relationship.
  • Information shared with the advisor or counselor is confidential unless disclosure is required to prevent clear and imminent danger to the student or others, or when legal requirements demand that confidential information be revealed. When disclosure is required, only information that is essential will be revealed and the student will be informed to the best extent possible.
  • Within the guidelines of confidentiality, the advisor or counselor may seek in-house professional consultation when it is deemed necessary and/or may request written permission to speak with other relevant parties.
  • Referrals to community resources are available and will be made when requested or deemed necessary, however, follow-through is at the discretion of the student.
  • The Advising and Counseling Center is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 8:00 and Fridays from 8:00 to 5:00 when classes are in session. Special winter and summer break may apply.

*If you need assistance when the Center is not open please call.
