Scholarship Fund

Endowed Scholarship

An Endowed Scholarship (individual or pooled) is one which, at the time the contribution is received, is of a dollar value of at least $25,000.

Endowed scholarship funds are held in perpetuity by the SUNY Orange Foundation and are invested with only the growth or income awarded. The intent of the Foundation is to award annual scholarships equal to five percent (5%) of the value of the principal (corpus). If the the investment does not increase in value at least five percent (5%), the Foundation will attempt to make up the difference from other permissible resources. Donors are encouraged to add to their original gift as resources alowl so that the intended value of the scholarship keeps pace with rising tuition.

Named Scholarship

Named Scholarships may be established with a contribution of less than $25,000 with the understanding that the entire principal (corpus) and corresponding interest accrued will be spent by awarding scholarships over a finite period of time.

  • Annual Scholarship: The donor agrees to make a one-time or annual contribution to the Foundation where the amount donated and any interest accrued is awarded in the form of a scholarship for a finite period of time. The minimum donation for an annual scholarship is $1250 or 1/3 the cost of annual tuition, whichever is higher.
  • One-time Award: An award is established, usually in horor or memory of someone. For the next twelve months donors make contributions to this fund. After the twelve month perior the entire amount received in donations (including any accrued interest) is awarded in the form of a scholarship.
