Academic Advising & Counseling

The Academic Advising & Counseling Office is located in Room 130 on the 1st floor of the Newburgh Extension Center and offers a variety of support services in one convenient location. The advisors/counselors recognize that a vital part of the educational process is the academic guidance available to students throughout their college career. In addition to academic guidance, the advisors/counselors are available to assist students in adjusting to college life and dealing with personal situations. Counselors will work with students to develop their own insights into the decision making process.

Adult Learners are a special population that the NEC Advising & Counseling Center serves. NEC advisors/counselors are sensitive to the needs of this population and offer assistance and comprehensive services, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. The advisors/counselors stress and address the specific needs and responsibilities facing this population of learners including the balancing of family obligations, academic scheduling problems, full-time work schedules, financial aid assistance and successful academic progress. The advisors/counselors mentor the student’s progress throughout the semester and offer activities at night to meet their needs.
