SUNY ORANGE TO HOLD "CELEBRATION OF LIFE" EVENT ON APRIL 20
Gathering will Honor Former College President, Dr. William Richards, Who Passed Away in October
MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – SUNY Orange will hold a “Celebration of Life” event in memory of former President Dr. William Richards at 5 p.m., Thursday, April 20 in the Orange Hall Theatre on the College’s Middletown campus.
Richards, who served as the College’s seventh president from 2003 until his retirement in 2015, passed away at his Denver-area home in October 2016.
The evening program will feature an array of speakers from the College and the community—representing the many different groups with which Richards interacted during his dozen years at SUNY Orange—leading to remarks from his wife, Helen, who will be joined by the couple’s daughter Jennifer. In addition, Reverend M. Carl Lunden, rector at St. James Episcopal Church in Goshen, and the St. James Choir will participate in the event. During their time in New York, Bill and Helen Richards were parishioners at St. James.
The general public is invited to attend. Online RSVPs for the event will be accepted. In addition, the College will be using the online RSVP form to accept favorite memories of Dr. Richards, humorous or poignant stories, or condolences. Following the event, these items will be compiled into a book for the family.
