Teaching Online

Interested in teaching online?

If you are a faculty member who is interested in teaching a course online, the first step is to meet with your Department Chair to discuss the course. You and your Department Chair will need to fill out the appropriate paperwork. The link below will provide access to the Online Course Development Process Form.

Click to Download the Online Course Development Process Form

Approvals must be granted by the Department Chair, the AVP and the VPAA.

Once the course is approved, if the instructor has not already completed training for online teaching, the faculty member should register for the SUNY Orange online training series and attend six (6) 2-hour workshops during which you will develop the shell for your online course. Instructors who have already completed this training can request a course development shell by email and begin building the course shell.

Once the course is fully developed it will be copied to the actual shell for the semester in which the course will be offered.

Please see your Department Chair or Maureen Larsen, Director of Academic Technology, if you have further questions.

Already teaching online?

If you are a faculty member who is already using Blackboard to teach an online, hybrid or web-enhanced course and you would like some additional training, please be sure to keep an eye on the Professional Development website to sign up for workshops!
