C.O.T.A. Club: Changing Outlooks Through Activities

The COTA Club was founded in September 1978 by members of the first OTA class at Orange County Community College. The purpose of the club is to:

  • Broaden the community's awareness concerning physical, developmental and psycho-social limitations through the use of films, lectures, etc.
  • Share knowledge and activities with students and faculty.
  • Provide volunteer services to community agencies, hospital, nursing homes, schools, etc.

All OTA students are encouraged to join and participate in the club. Major activities undertaken by the club each year include: bagel and pastry sales, swim-a-thons and walk-a-thons, collecting clothes for the homeless, and holiday parties at local community facilities. Fund raising activities are done to raise money that is used to send an elected member of the freshmen class to the annual AOTA conference; to purchase a gift for a chosen clinical site; and to purchase program pins and dinners for the graduating class.
