Type of Scholarships
- Merit Based Scholarships – Scholarships awarded based upon academic merit only
- Merit & Financial Need Based Scholarships – Scholarships awarded based upon academic merit and financial need. To establish financial need, students are required to file the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)† , even if the student is not seeking Federal Financial Aid
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum CQPA of 3.0 at end of 2009 Fall Semester
- Will be graduating in August 2009, December 2009, or May 2010 and will be transferring to a four year institution
- File formal application for graduation with Records & Registration Office
- Completed a minimum of 30 credits of college course work at SUNY Orange
Application Procedures
- Complete the SUNY Orange Graduate Scholarship Application
- Submit two faculty recommendation forms to the Office of Financial Aid
- List of extracurricular college and community service activities and any other relevant outside obligations such as family and work demands
- Submit a 250 word typewritten essay
- File 2010/2011 FAFSA form and provide photocopy of the results to the Office of Financial Aid
Acknowledgement Procedure
- Applicants are responsible to ensure that all materials submitted are complete
Major Criteria for Awarding Scholarships
- Academic performance at SUNY Orange
- Two supporting faculty recommendations
- Involvement in college and community service activities
- Quality of typewritten essay
- Demonstrated financial need where applicable
Deadlines
- Submission of All Application Materials – March 15, 2010
- Notification of Recipients – April 2010
