SUNY Orange's Testing Center is operated by the Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE) department which provides testing and exam services to SUNY Orange students and other community members.

Our mission is to provide a reliable and secure testing environment in order to give test takers a fair opportunity for academic and professional success.


Testing takes place in the Student Success Center - Room 225 at the George F. Shepard Student Center, on the Middletown Campus. The Continuing and Professional Education office is in the Christine Morrison House on the Middletown Campus. Click here for map and directions:

Testing Center Hours

The testing center is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM and Friday 12:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

Registration and Payment

All CLEP and TEAS candidates must contact the CAPE office to schedule a date and time to take the exam. Please note that times are limited, so do not wait until the last minute to schedule. CLEP candidates must register online at www.collegeboard.org before scheduling their exam through the CAPE office.

Exam fees vary. Please contact the CAPE office at 845-341-4890 for more information.

Registration can be completed over the phone or in person at the CAPE office on the Middletown campus, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Payment is due prior to testing appointment. You can pay your testing fees by money order, MasterCard, Visa, or Discover. If you are using a charge card, you must provide card number and expiration date, test taker's name, cardholder's name (if different from test taker's), and cardholder's ZIP Code. All payments are to be made in the Student Services Central office and receipt must be presented to Test Center Administrator.

Information for Students With Disabilities

Reasonable accommodations are available for test takers with documented disabilities. Students are responsible for notifying the Testing Center of their need for a testing accommodation when scheduling an appointment to test. Please contact us at least two weeks in advance of your preferred test date to schedule your exam.

SUNY Orange students requiring accommodations must be registered with the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS). OAS can be reached at:

Students who are not currently registered with OAS must schedule an intake appointment and provide current documentation of disability. Please visit http://sunyorange.edu/oas/ for a list of documentation requirements. Accommodation requests need to be made to ODS at least two weeks in advance. Please note that the Testing Center cannot provide accommodations for SUNY Orange students without an official accommodation letter.

Exam dates cannot be rescheduled, and all exam fees are non-refundable. If you miss your scheduled exam, your payment will be forfeited.

College Closings & Delays

College closings and delays alerts are published at http://www.sunyorange.edu/alert

When the College is closed or delayed during your test appointment, do not report to the Testing Center. When the College reopens, staff will contact you to reschedule.
