Transfer Admission Agreement Lackawanna College And SUNY Orange I. PURPOSE This Transfer Admissions agreement is designed to coordinate transfer policies, enhance advising, and promote the acceptance of equivalent courses/credits between Lackawanna College (Lackawanna) and SUNY Orange (Orange). II. ELEMENT OF THE AGREEMENT A. Admissions Practice 1. Lackawanna accepts applications from students who wish to transfer directly from SUNY Orange to pursue a bachelor's degree. Guaranteed admission is provided for students who earn an Associate Degree from SUNY Orange with a cumulative GPA including all college level work of at least 2.8, upon completing the required admissions process. The guarantee of admission does not imply admission to a particular Lackawanna degree program or admission to a particular semester. For the purpose of admission and credit recognition the transfer GPA is determined by calculation that includes all college level credits; credits completed at SUNY Orange and at any other previously attended institution of higher education count. After enrollment at Lackawanna, Lackawanna College will apply the College's Repeat Policy when calculating the cumulative GPA. Students transferring from SUNY Orange to specific limited admissions Lackawanna programs must meet the same prerequisites, grade point average (GPA) and other admission criteria, as other students applying to those Lackawanna programs. 2. Students transferring under this agreement will be considered for a tuition discount as available. B. Responsibilities of Transfer Admission Applications Transfer admissions applicants must: 1. Submit the Transfer Admission application from one semester prior to transfer. The application fee will be waived for SUNY Orange students applying under the Transfer Agreement program. 2. Complete an Associate degree at SUNY Orange. 3. Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, both from SUNY Orange and any other previously attended higher education institutions. 4. Transfer directly from SUNY Orange to Lackawanna College and enroll at Lackawanna College full-time status (12 credits per semester) 5. During enrollment at Lackawanna, the continuation of any tuition discount provided by this Transfer program subsequent semester requires that the student maintain full-time enrollment and a 2.8 GPA to receive the tuition discount. The Office of Financial Aid will continually monitor that all renewal requirements are being met. C. Acceptance and Application of Credits 1. Where course equivalencies exist for required courses, core curriculum requirements, and/or prerequisites, these courses will apply to Lackawanna graduation requirements. Course equivalencies will be determined consistent with standard course-transfer criteria at Lackawanna College. 2. Lackawanna will evaluate courses/credits earned through Advance Placement (AP), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), or other testing programs. Lackawanna will also evaluate courses/credits earned at other institutions. Original certification of test scores and original college transcripts will be required for transfer credits. 3. Lackawanna will maintain courses equivalency information and make this information readily available to SUNY Orange. Students will receive academic advising that outlines the articulation of transfer credit from SUNY Orange to Lackawanna. 4. Students transferring from SUNY Orange will be required to complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of Lackawanna coursework to be eligible for Lackawanna College degree. Students may apply no more than 72 credits from regionally accredited community colleges, including SUNY Orange, to the bachelor's degree. Students who have completed more than 72 community college credit hours may select the courses they wish to have evaluated as part of their credit hours counted towards the bachelor's degree. All credit hours will be calculated in the student's overall grade point average. D. Benefits to the Students 1. Students who meet the aforementioned requirements will be eligible for a scholarship in the amount of $1,250.00 per year, not to exceed 2 years or a total of 4 semesters. 2. The application fee will be waived for SUNY Orange students applying under the Transfer Agreement program. 3. Students will have access to academic advising during their time at SUNY Orange, with anticipation of transfer to Lackawanna. E. Amendments and Terms Effect 1. Areas for Enhancement of present and/or potential collaborative activities and initiatives include, but are not limited to: a. Improved curriculum articulation, including 2-plus-2 models b. Joint faculty professional development, as may be feasible c. Tuition waivers for students transferring to Lackawanna from SUNY Orange d. Joint press release and mention of the Transfer Admission agreement in appropriate College and University documents and publications 2. This master agreement will be in effect as of the date of its signing. Either institution may terminate this agreement at any time by written notice at least one year in advance of the effective date of termination. Should this agreement be terminated, it is understood that all SUNY Orange students who have been accepted to Lackawanna as part of this agreement will be provided all of the benefits as stated during all continuous enrollment.
