FACULTY iPAD PROGRAM Dr. Heather Perfetti, Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Academic Associate Vice Presidents in combination with Dena Whipple, Director of the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) are together sponsoring a Faculty iPad Program. The goal of the program is to encourage faculty to test out these devices as tools to enhance teaching and learning. The Academic AVPs in conjunction with Dena Whipple, will oversee this new project. OVERVIEW How does the iPad Program work? iPads will be provided to faculty members as a loan through the CTL, either for short-term use (less than a semester) or for as long as a semester or two. Additionally, the CTL will help faculty get started by providing a brief orientation and training session on the device. Whos eligible to participate? All full time faculty members who have not previously been issued an iPad by means of college funding are eligible to participate in this program. What are the features of the iPad? The iPads are 16 GB, Wi-Fi models. They are not 4G capable. What will this cost? There is no cost for participating in the iPad program. Participants are able to download a variety of free apps to experiment with. As the Academic Affairs budget permits, participants will be provided with an iTunes gift card to purchase apps for teaching and learning. Please note, in order download and purchase apps participants are required to set up an account with iTunes thus, will need to read and agree to the Apple Terms of Service and Apple Customer Privacy Policy. Participants are responsible for the cost of any downloaded apps or media files beyond the allotted gift card amount. All downloaded apps or media files remain the property of the participant. Can I keep the iPad? At this time the iPads are available as loaners only. The iPads remain the property of Academic Affairs and must be returned to the CTL at the end of the loan period. The College may offer a buy-out option for personal use and participants will be notified if this option is available at the end of the program period. iPad Program 04/23/13 PROCEDURE How do I sign up to participate?
