Orange County Community College Department of Dental Hygiene 845-341-4880 and Centers for Business Training and Professional Development (O) 845-341-4770; Fax: 845-341-4921 Local Infiltration Anesthesia and Nitrous Oxide Analgesia: A Certification Course for Registered Dental Hygienists This forty-five hour course satisfies the state educational requirements for certification in the administration and monitoring of local infiltration anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia for dental hygienists. The course consists of thirty hours of on-line classroom instruction (didactic component) and an additional fifteen hours in the clinical and laboratory component. Fee: $977.00 (includes Distance Learning Fee, Continental Breakfast, and insurance fee). Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment, New York State Dental Hygiene license number, and email address are required with registration form. Be sure to check in the course number box next to the letter which clinical section you want to register for. NOTE: You must bring proof of CPR certification to the clinical course. You will not be admitted without it. Attendance Policy: Online Portion: You must complete all scheduled assignments as posted on the Web. Failure to meet deadlines will result in an incomplete didactic portion and will prevent the participant from attending the clinical portion, forfeiting any fees paid. Clinical Portion: You must attend all 15 hours of clinical instruction. After registration is complete, the Department will send you an informational packet detailing the on-line program as well as other pertinent information. NOTE: All students taking this course will be required to administer and receive local anesthesia and nitrous oxide.
