Access your academic transcript and other personal information: log onto www.sunyorange.edu, follow �mysunyorange� and �Banner Self-Service� links, then log in using your �A� number. * If you haven�t taken EDU 107, read the online description. If you are going to work with children, you�ll need this. * If you are in any transfer program, you�ll need a Foundations of Education course. Take EDU 207 Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education here, save money, and be ready. It is now an approved Liberal Arts elective. * Remember the Education Curriculum Resource Area, second floor, in the Library. We are now up to over 900 volumes, lots of teacher resources and quality children�s literature. * Consider joining the Future Teachers Association (FTA). This semester the group meets in OH 108 Tuesdays at 11:00 am. Membership in FTA is a great learning experience for you personally. It adds depth to your resume. * Advising and Counseling will advise Education students on March 10-13. * On Friday, April 3rd in Sarah Wells Building, the Education Department will hold an Advising Open House from 9-11:30 am and 12 noon-4 pm. For students in the Jointly Registered Teacher Education Program * If you are graduating from Orange in May 2009, you should have previously applied to SUNY New Paltz in January 2009. The official cut-off date is April 1st, but New Paltz currently has 1500 applications for 600 spots (includes non-JRTEP seats). * April 4th is SUNY New Paltz Accepted Students Day. If you�ve been admitted, this is a good event to attend. You must register at salernom@newpaltz.edu. * A �B� is required in ENG 101 and ENG 102 for JRTEP 7-12, a �C� is required in those courses for JRTEP B-2 and 1-6. * A �B-� or better is required in EDU 103 for those in B-2 or 1-6. * New Paltz will accept a maximum of 30 hours in transfer of observation or participation at �legitimate� sites toward the 100 hours needed before you student teach at New Paltz. For students in AAS Degree/Certificate--Early Childhood Development & Care * Consider taking one or two �extra� classes beyond your AAS course sequence and get a Teaching Assistant Certificate as well. Check the Education Department website or advisor for details. For students in the general transfer AA/AS Liberal Arts Foundations of Education * Listed in your course sequences you will see unrestricted Electives, 9 in the AA degree and 12 in the AS. They can be taken at any time as long as there are no prerequisites.
