TEACHING ASSISTANT CERTIFICATION

A 25-credit program offered at SUNY Orange
in collaboration with the Middletown Teacher Center

This program will meet the New York State course requirements for a Teaching Assistant Certificate, as well as provide a foundation for further study toward a two-year sequence at SUNY Orange or a full undergraduate teaching degree at a four-year college or university.

NOTE: Candidates for all levels of Teaching Assistant Certification MUST complete:

* NYS Teacher Certification Exam (NYSATAS*)
* Child Abuse Identification and Reporting Mandated Training
* Prevention and Intervention of School Violence Mandated Training
* Fingerprint Clearance

* 75 hours every five (5) years coursework or other district approved activities, or equivalent, or in program with articulation agreement with teacher education program.
