ASIA: Traditions in Transition Lecture by SUNY-Orange World History Professor Michael Strmiska When? Thursday September 16, 11 am- 12 noon and again at 7:00 � 8 pm. Where? The Gilman Center (room 130) in the SUNY-Orange (Orange County Community College) Library, 115 South St. Middletown NY. Why? This is the first lecture in the Global Initiative: Asia series at SUNY-Orange for the academic year 2010-2011. Professor Strmiska will provide a wide-ranging discussion of various aspects of Asian culture, including Asian forms of art, education, religion and economy, showing threads that link together the ancient past with the hyper-modern present. Dr. Strmiska lived in Japan from 1999-2004 and has wide knowledge of Asian religion, culture and history.
