SUNY Orange Hosts Halloween Drive Thru

November 4, 2021

Ghosts, goblins, and even a newlywed couple in much need of a marriage counselor rang in Halloween weekend as SUNY Orange’s Middletown campus on South Street played host to the second annual Haunted Drive-Thru on Friday, Oct. 29.

The event saw 225 carloads of holiday revelers tour the Alumni Green loop dotted with student actors enacting frightening, even blood-curdling scenes that were worthy of inclusion in a Hollywood feature film … all while adhering to the College’s COVID protocols.

More than 20 students, staff and faculty from the Apprentice Players acting troupe, Future Teachers Association and International Club students organizations, as well as the Financial Aid Office, and the Arts and Communication Department, enacted frightening scenes including a homecoming queen snapping selfies in front of a photobombing zombie, a bride still in her wedding dress hacking her tuxedo-clad husband with an axe, and a display celebrating musicians and celebrities who are no longer with us, including Bob Marley and Jerry Garcia.

Although free to the public, the event collected $1,400 in charitable donations for the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.

Throughout the COVID pandemic, SUNY Orange has remained committed to helping students stay connected outside of the in-person or virtual classrooms by providing ways for student clubs and organizations to continue holding meetings and events.
