Receiving College: Mercy College Department: School of Health and Natural Sciences Program: Health Science Degree: B.S. Admissions Requirements to Mercy College Program (e.g. minimum GPA, audition/portfolio): For admission to the BS in Health Science: Students must have completed an Associates degree with an overall GPA of 2.50. All grades of D or higher earned in courses that are part of the associates degree will be accepted in transfer, but only grades of C or better may be applied to the major. Grades of C-, D+ and D may be used to fulfill General Education requirements and elective credit only. For application to the M.S. in Occupational Therapy: Program Requirements The Occupational Therapy Program begins in the Fall of each academic year. To apply to the occupational therapy program students must have: - A bachelor degree from an accredited college or university. - Minimum GPA of 3.00 or higher from their last 30 credits. Students who have a GPA below the required 3.0 at the time of application to the program will have their semester grades monitored. If their last 30 credits GPA changes to a 3.00 or higher they will be considered for admission into the program if places remain available. - Successful completion of 4 of the prerequisite courses listed below with a grade of C or better. Students who have not completed four pre-requisites at the time of applications will have their admission decision deferred until they have completed a minimum of 4 pre-requisites. The grades from pre-requisites courses will be considered in the admission decision process. - A realistic plan to complete remaining prerequisite courses prior to enrollment in the first fall term. Students with a minimum of 90 undergraduate credits can apply to the Occupational Therapy Master's Program for provisional acceptance up to one year in advance of entry into the program. The bachelor's degree must be completed prior to progression into the Master's Program. Applications are accepted for consideration of early admission between June 15th and August 10th, one year prior to the fall for which the student would begin the occupational therapy program. During early admission, up to a maximum of 70 percent of the spots in the program may be filled. Regular admission applications will be accepted between October 1st and December 1st. If places remain in the program after January 20th, when all admission decisions have been made, applications will continue to be accepted on a first come basis until all places in the program have been filled. A maximum of 32 students will be accepted into each class. Four (4) of the prerequisites listed below should be completed by application or before admission decision. Students may transfer these courses from other colleges that are considered equivalent as evaluated by the admission department. Students may be required to provide a copy of the course outline and required assignments for review by the Occupational Therapy Program Admissions Committee. The courses below should be taken at Mercy College, unless special permission is granted. Acceptance of transfer credit and exemption criteria for any of the courses may require passing a competency exam. Students may be eligible to have some prerequisite courses waived (HLSC 205, 210, 225, 402). Students should contact their OT admission advisor for the waiver criteria. Some course waivers may require a competency exam. The prerequisite courses are offered at Mercy College days, evenings and weekends. Please note that no student will be admitted into a prerequisite science course if that student does not qualify to take ENGL 111 at the same time. Total transfer credits granted toward the Baccalaureate degree: A total of 90 credits are accepted in transfer. Only 75 may be from a two year institution. CLEP, DANTE and ACE equivalent credits are accepted in transfer. One half of the major requirements must be completed at Mercy College. Permission to transfer in any additional major courses after the student's final transcript(s) are evaluated must be approved by the Dean of the School for that student's major. Total additional credits required at Mercy College to complete Baccalaureate degree: 51 Procedures for updating, modifying or terminating agreement: Each party must give one year's notice to terminate an agreement. However, both Mercy and Orange CC will notify each other immediately regarding any changes in the curriculum. Procedures for evaluating agreement, (e.g. number of students who transfer, number of students who graduate): Mercy College will furnish OCC with a list of graduates who have registered for classes each Fall and Spring. Each June, Mercy College will supply a list of Mercy College graduates who transferred in with an associate's degree from Orange CC. Sending and Receiving College procedures for publicizing agreement (e.g. college catalogs, transfer advisors, Websites, etc.): Mercy College will be invited to partake in all transfer activities scheduled at Orange CC, as well as any special transfer activities decided upon by both Mercy and Orange CC. Orange CC will publish all articulation agreements with Mercy College on their website. In addition, groups of OCC students will be invited regularly to Mercy College for special events, to partake in classes, and to meet with faculty and advisors. Mercy will have a link on their website for Orange CC students to review articulations as well. FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIPS Transfer students are eligible to apply for financial aid that is normally available to other junior class students. Scholarships awarded to transfer students are awarded on the basis of previous academic performance, demonstrated financial need and the student's potential contribution to the intellectual life of the College. Trustees Scholarship - Transfers Scholarships are awarded to outstanding entering transfer students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or above, and an Associate's Degree. Scholarship awards are renewable for the duration of the undergraduate degree as long as the recipient meets the conditions for retaining the award. Application may be made during the interview with your Admissions Counselor. Transfer President's Scholarship Scholarships are awarded to outstanding entering transfer students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 to 3.69 or above, and an Associate's Degree. Scholarship awards are renewable for the duration of the undergraduate degree as long as the recipient meets the conditions for retaining the award. Application may be made during the interview with your Admissions Counselor. Transfer Provost Scholarship Scholarships are awarded to outstanding entering transfer students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to 3.39 or above, and an Associate's Degree.
