ARTICULATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND ORANGE-ULSTER BOCES This MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING entered this 5th day of November 2018, between Orange County Community College, located at 11 South Street, Middletown, New York 10940, hereinafter referred to as the SUNY Orange, and Orange-Ulster BOCES, 53 Gibson Road, Goshen, NY 10924, hereinafter referred to as OU BOCES. WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the parties hereto are desirous to enter into an agreement for the purpose of articulating their programs to provide necessary services so that each student may function at the highest level of which s/he is capable with minimum repetition or duplication of time and effort when moving from OU BOCES and enrolling in SUNY Orange and thereby providing a more cost-effective service to the community. NOW THEREFORE, agrees as follows: Effective November 5, 2018, the following conditions are acceptable to both parties: 1. An ARTICULATION AGREEMENT regarding OU BOCES Education Management program and the SUNY Orange A.A.S. Early Childhood Development and Care Program and the One Year Certificate in the Early Childhood Development and Care Program shall be in effect. 2. A Department Chair from the COLLEGE, and the Director of Career and Technical Education and respective staff from BOCES will review these articulations on an annual basis to evaluate, update, and expand them where needed. 3. A student from OU BOCES may enter SUNY Orange with Advanced Placement and course credit for specific courses taken at BOCES after successfully meeting specified conditions of SUNY Orange. 4. The COLLEGE will make the final decision as to enrollment of any students; at which point the terms of this AGREEMENT will be put into effect. 5. Where credit is awarded by the COLLEGE under terms of this AGREEMENT, it shall be counted and apply towards the minimum total credits required to attaining a specific and appropriate degree or certificate awarded by the COLLEGE. 6. Upon first registration, the student must: A. Submit a transcript demonstrating completion of the OU BOCES Education Management Program with a grade of "85" or better. B. Submit documentation of direct contact hours obtained at BOCES CTEC program. C. Submit certificate for Infant and Child First Aid and CPR training. D. Declare as a program of study and enroll in the following SUNY Orange programs - A.A.S. Early Childhood Development and Care Program OR One Year Certificate in the Early Childhood Development and Care Program. 7. Upon successfully meeting the above criteria, some or all of the following credits will be awarded: A. Two college credits for the course EDU 105 Preparing to Teach Young Children. B. One college credit for the course PES 156 Infant and Child First Aid and CPR. C. A reduction of field hours required for EDU 203 (Child Care Curriculum and Field Experience 1) and EDU 204 (Child Care Curriculum and Field Experience 2). Students will receive a reduction of a total of 40 hours of field work (20 hours per course). This will reduce the total hourly requirement for EDU 203 and EDU 204 from 180 hours to 140 hours. 8. This agreement will be subject to annual review by both parties. Such review should take place no later than June 1st of each academic year. This agreement shall remain in effect unless either party requests in writing that it be rescinded. 9. This agreement is approved this 5th day of November, 2018.
