ARTICULATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN ORANGE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND ORANGE-ULSTER BOCES This MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING entered this 28th day of March 2019, between the Orange County Community College, located at 115 South Street, Middletown, New York 10940, hereinafter referred to as the COLLEGE, and Orange-Ulster BOCES, Career & Technical Education Centers, and hereinafter referred to as BOCES. WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the parties hereto are desirous to enter into an agreement for the purpose of articulating the BOCES Career and Technical Education Centers (CTEC) Licensed Practical Nursing program with similar programs at OCCC to provide necessary services so that each student may function at the highest level of which s/he is capable with minimum repetition or duplication of time and effort when moving from BOCES and enrolling in Orange County Community College, and thereby providing a more cost-effective service to the community. THEREFORE, agree as follows: Effective March 28, 2019, the following conditions are acceptable to both parties: 1. An ARTICULATION AGREEMENT regarding the Orange-Ulster BOCES and Orange County Community College shall be in effect. 2. The Department Chair from OCCC, and Director of Career and Technical Education and respective staff from BOCES will review these articulations on an annual basis to evaluate, update and expand them where needed. 3. Orange County Community College will make the final decision as to enrollment of any students; at which point the terms of this AGREEMENT will be put into effect. 4. A student from BOCES may enter the COLLEGE with Advanced Placement and course credit for subjects taken at BOCES after successfully meeting specified conditions of the COLLEGE Department as set forth in the MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING or any jointly approved addenda attached hereto. 5. The COLLEGE will make the final decision as to enrollment of any students; at which point the terms of this AGREEMENT will be put into effect. 6. Where credit is awarded by the COLLEGE under terms of this AGREEMENT, it shall be counted and apply towards the minimum total credits required to attaining a specific and appropriate degree or certificate awarded by the COLLEGE. 6. In order to receive credit, the BOCES student must: a. Complete the BOCES Licensed Practical Nursing program with a grade of "85" or better. b. Enroll in the following COLLEGE program - A.A.S. Nursing. c. Have completed the BOCES Licensed Practical Nursing program within five years of entering Nursing 2: Fundamentals, NUR 102, at the COLLEGE. d. Pass the New York State Licensed Practical Nursing examination and submit a copy of current license. e. Successfully complete the COLLEGE's nursing Bridge 1 course before entering the nursing program. f. Receive a grade of "75" or better in NUR 102-Nursing 2: Fundamentals at the COLLEGE to receive credit for NUR 101-Nursing 1: Fundamentals. g. To challenge NUR 201 Nursing 3: Care of the Growing Family an official transcript needs to be approved by the COLLEGE's department of nursing to validate a minimum of 70 clinical hours in Maternal/Child Nursing before taking the Excelsior College Examination for Maternal and Child Nursing, baccalaureate level. h. Receive a grade of "B" or higher on The Excelsior College Examination for Maternal and Child Nursing, baccalaureate level and submit results to the COLLEGE. i. Request from the nursing department's current chairperson in writing to be granted advanced standing into NUR202-Nursing 4. j. Receive a grade of "75" or better in NUR 202-Nursing 4: Physical and Mental Illness at the COLLEGE to receive credit for NUR 201-Nursing 3: Caring for the Growing Family. k. If all of the above criteria have been met, credit will be awarded for, NUR 101 Nursing 1: Fundamentals (7 credits) NUR 201 Nursing 3: Care of the Growing Family (7 credits) l. Any BOCES graduate who does not meet the requirements set forth in section a-d can challenge NUR 101 by taking the Excelsior College Fundamentals of Nursing Examination and receive a grade of B or higher. 7. This agreement will be subject to annual review by both parties. Such review should take place no later than June 1st of each academic year. This agreement shall remain in effect unless either party requests in writing that it be rescinded. 8. This agreement is approved this 28th day of March 2019. BY Dr. Kristine M.
