SUNY Orange County Community College Empire State College, State University of New York Pathways Transfer Agreement (MOU) RN to BSN Empire State College (ESC) and Orange County Community College (OCCC), both of the State University of New York, agree to develop a Pathways Transfer Agreement in Nursing. The agreement is designed to support transfer students during their transition to Empire State College, and intends to: - Ensure a smooth transfer for OCCC graduates to ESC; - Ease the transition process for graduates changing from classroom-based learning to an educational model comprised significantly of online coursework; - Provide an affordable and convenient baccalaureate degree option for OCCC graduates who want to remain close to their homes and/or community; - Provide clear guidelines for OCCC graduates to follow during the transition. ESC will offer Associate degree graduates in nursing from OCCC an opportunity to participate in the Pathways Transfer Program into the Bachelor of Science degree in nursing program. OCCC graduates meeting ESC's admissions requirements will become ESC students upon admission. Admissions Requirements - Completed AS degree in Nursing - Possession of an active, unencumbered nursing license (RN) - Completed ESC admissions application (including essay) While enrolled at ESC, students in the Pathways Program may cross-register for up to 16 credits at OCCC. These lower-division credits will be applicable to general education requirements in the baccalaureate degree program. The miniumum numnber of credits to be taken at ESC would be at least 45 advanced-level credits, which would include 41 credits in nursing. Up to 79 total credits could be included from OCCC. Enclosed you will find a list of courses that can be taken by your students via cross-registration while still enrolled at your campus. These four credit upper level offerings will be accepted in transfer at the time your graduates enroll with ESC. The students receive the benefit of earning upper level credits that are directly applicable to their next degree. A benefit for OCCC is the potential to receive additional tuition revenue for up to 16 credits for each Pathways Program student. In addition, each participating student will be able to transfer all credits earned as part of their associate's degree to ESC. As part of the agreement, ESC will provide the following: outreach to faculty and transfer office staff at OCCC to provide program information, and offer information sessions for students on the OCCC campus, at ESC locations, and online. OCCC agrees to provide: (1) access for cross-registered Pathways students to campus facilities and resources (i.e. Library, academic support, computer labs), (2) promotion of the program on campus to current students, faculty advisors, and alumni, and (3) to include this transfer agreement in any college publications where such agreements are listed (i.e. college catalog, website, transfer office brochures). Nursing students may enroll at ESC on a full or part-time basis. Demand for this program is expected to be high. Students from OCCC who are interested in the RN to BSN program are welcome to apply and will be considered as space is available. The transfer conditions are applicable to all admitted students.
