Pairing with the Spike Wilner Trio concert on Saturday, the Sept. 21, a master class is being offered by Spike Wilner starting a 11 a.m. on Monday, September 23 in Orange Hall Room 23.
Entitled, Notes from a Club Owner: Running a Jazz Venue - with Spike Wilner
Wilner will discuss his expertise in running two successful jazz clubs in Manhattan while keeping his own musicianship well-honed. He will share his thoughts on the practicality of a life of managing balanced with a life of performing.
The master class is free and open to the public.
In addition to being in the initial class of the New School For Social Research’s Jazz and Contemporary Music program and taking his MA at SUNY Purchase, he has taught at the Brooklyn Conservatory, has guest lectured at the Juilliard School of Jazz Studies, and now teaches a class at the New School.
