Career Advising Workshop [Faculty/Staff]

A three part series to demystify the career exploration and career decision making process.  


At the end of the series participants will have a better understanding how to help students gain insight into selecting a major that is best suited to them based on their interests, personality skills, and values. Participants can register for one or all three workshops, but for maximum impact consider signing up for all three. 

I. Overview of Career Advising:
Participants will gain an understanding of the career advising process. Learn why and when to have a career conversations with students and take a closer look at the career theories that form the foundation of the career advising activities. 

II. Career Advising Tools and Resources - Part 1.
Learn about the career resources available to help SUNY Orange students decide on a major and career. See how to engage a student in career conversations and what assessment to use in the career exploration process. 

III. Career Advising Tools and Resources - Part 2
Participants will have the opportunity to more closely examine the Career Coach and FOCUS assessment tools. Learn how they can better assist the Liberal Arts student and take a closer look at career advising situations and discuss how best to help the individuals in these situations.

The workshops will be available via ZOOM as well as in-person
