Avenue Q star, Jason Jacoby, is coming via zoom to SUNY Orange to present his specialty, Puppets in Performance.

A disciple of Jim Henson, Jacoby has been improvising puppet movies since age five. Throughout his middle and high school years, he starred in numerous musicals. Then, he went on the SUNY New Paltz and was in numerous plays and musicals all the while loving the Muppets. While there, he acted in many plays and finally created and directed The Lovers, the Dreamers, and You: A Muppet Musical.

Upon graduating with a BA in Theatre Arts from SUNY New Paltz, his acting career took him to Regional theatre and the NYC Fringe and Off-Broadway to Avenue Q, the Triple-Crown Tony Award-winning adult puppet musical, in which he starred as Trekkie, Nicky, and Bear. He also was puppet/dance captain of the show, and used his talents in character voices and dialects, singing, whistling, and improvisation.

During three free workshop sessions, Jacoby will demonstrate and teach his puppetry skills manipulating "Muppet-style" puppets. While focusing on performing and acting with hand/rod, large-scale puppets, he will apply those techniques to exercises, scene work, and character development.
