"Exploring Transfer" is an intensive five-week academic program designed for first generation college students who would not normally consider application to a selective four-year liberal arts institution. 

Students in the program take two courses co-taught by Vassar and community college faculty, and receive the equivalent of at least six credits at Vassar. 

The program will be held virtually from June 18-July 23.  Additionally, those accepted will receive a $500 stipend and the use of a tablet/portable WIFI-device (tablets are limited).

Preferential consideration will be given to applicants who:

• Are a first-generation college student.
• Have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0, but lower GPA's will be considered.
• Completed Freshman English I with a solid grade, and at least 24 non-developmental college credits.
• Have exhibited resilience in the face of adversity, strong work ethic, and open and inquiring minds.

Other application items:

• The application requires two letters of recommendation.  When filling out the application, you need to invite two instructors to submit a letter.  Please allow ample time for the faculty member to submit the online form prior to the application deadline (Deadline for Faculty Recommendation is March 22). 
• Two writing samples chosen from a list of options on the application (5,000 characters each).
• Unofficial Transcript will be sent on your behalf.  There is no need to request an official transcript.
