All Day
The recording of the music master class that took place on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 11am to 12:30pm is ready for viewing now through June 5.
“Sol: Launching an Album and Record Label During a Global Pandemic”: a musician’s perspective was presented by trombonist/composer/arranger/recording engineer/producer/educator, Doug Beavers.
Beavers highlighted three important factors in a modern musician’s ability to succeed even during the lockdown of the pandemic:
~ The music: multi-faceted, original compositions
~ Production and Flexibility
~ Business, his new company, Circle 9.
The master class gave an in-depth discussion of scores from the album, Sol, a project comprised of entirely original compositions which fuses Afro-Caribbean, R&B, salsa and Latin jazz musical elements. Video footage from the recording sessions at Studio Mozart in Little Falls, NJ as well as outdoors gave a glimpse of the work involved in keeping a high standard of sound of instrumentation, performing within the parameters of pandemic circumstances, and the production as a whole.
At the end of the class, Beavers answered all questions in a very interactive discussion.
Doug Beavers holds an MM in Composition from Manhattan School of Music.
