Sunday, 2 May, 2021
All Day

Watershed Planning Coordinator for the Rondout Neversink Stream Program Haley Springston, presented the second lecture in the Earth Month Lecture Series on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

As she trekked through the streams, Geologist Springston, showed bits of rock that date from the Devonian Geologic Period. She explained how the Catskill bedrock geology formed nearly 380 million years ago as she discussed identifying and interpreting depositional features commonly seen along Catskill waterways. She further reviewed the roles of spring snowmelt and glacial deposition on the surficial geology of the Catskills. This geology influences present-day Catskill streams and rivers the reasons geologic history of the Catskills has left lasting effects, still experienced to this day.

The recorded presentation of this program, Catskill Stream Geology, is now available for viewing through June 3. The zoom link is HERE.

One PDH-CEU is offered for attendance by engineers, architects, and municipal officials. Certificates will be issued upon completion of lecture questions. Prior to viewing the lecture, register for the PDH-CEU by emailing cultural@sunyorange.edu with “for PDH-CEU” in the subject line. Questions will be emailed to you.
