Veteran Actor and SUNY Orange Alum, Robert Kerstner, will be putting theatre students and the Apprentice Players through the paces for a full afternoon and evening at the William and Helen Richards Theatre at Orange Hall and college environs on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.

His master class/workshop How to Break the Fourth Wall: An Actor’s Tale guides students in “leaping from performing in a traditional stage setting to performing among their audiences.” Additionally, this workshop will help students “develop their skills in building audience connections through one-on-one interactions, and character development and movement.” Experienced in Improvisation as well, Kerstner will devote time in the sessions to this integral part of acting.

An additional benefit of this master class-workshop is the skill to be learned in how to contend and perform with far more distractions and demands than required by traditional stage theatre. In fact, this is a wonderful life skill as today’s world throws interruptions and diversions at us constantly.

Robert Kerstner is a well-rounded professional actor and acting teacher as he has performed on stage in musicals, Shakespearean plays, improv comedies, cabarets, classical operas, and at Renaissance festivals. He has also appeared on film and several web series. His resume includes performing in the Hudson Valley Opera Co, BergenStages, BergenStages Radio Theatre, Renaissance Entertainment Productions, Broadway Concerts Direct, NY's Mission Improv-able, Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop, and The New Jersey Foundation for Dance & Theatre Arts.

Currently, Kerstner is working with Megara, Inc. developing a new project, "Kingdom Faire" which will be debuting its first performance season this year and will run every weekend starting on April 30th through June 26th at Graymoor in Garrison, NY. He works for the King Centre for the Performing Arts as a theatre teacher and in their office and has returned to academia through Empire State College where he is pursuing a degree in Business Administration (Class of 2023).
