The Legacy Workshop ˜ by facilitator/producer Damaris Mercado

Thursday, 15 September, 2022
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Hispanic Heritage Month extends from September 15th through October 15th. To celebrate, a varied series of seven events is scheduled.

To kick off the series, a well-conceived program is being offered from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, September 15 via zoom. The Legacy Workshop “encourages participants to tap into their families’ histories and develop roadmaps for excavating their unique stories while giving them perspective and inspiration for establishing the legacy of greatness they each possess,” states facilitator/producer Damaris Mercado.

Mercado will guide participants in “uncovering their roots and making connections to today and tomorrow through reflection and sharing, writing and storytelling.” So, definitely have paper, pen or pencil on hand.

Understand who you are within your family’s continuing history and gain confidence through narrative storytelling. Open your mind to meaningful discussion.

This workshop has been designed to focus on and highlight cultural literacies from the Afro-Latin-o/a/x experience.

Registration is necessary through this link https://sunyorange.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMlce6przksG9FMBqV4lDT RREfmzl6dq1q.

Co-sponsored by Cultural Affairs and the Committee for Institutional Diversity and Equity (CIDE), this event has limited participant entry in order that attendees get enough individualized time to create through words and subsequently, share through familial narratives. Participants are welcome to come for as long their time permits.
