Latin Jazz Master Class with Doug Beavers

On Thursday, September 29, 2022, join us for a live & in-person music master class with composer/arranger/trombonist Doug Beavers. Latin Jazz is the focus of the class which starts at noon in Orange Hall, room 24, and is free and open to the public.

During spring 2022 and finishing in June while in Spain, Doug Beavers composed a suite of six new compositions which he has titled LUNA. Strategies in Composing Rhythms and Musical Form Assembly in Afro-Caribbean music is a presentation of the scores accompanied by discussion of his approach to composing the music, while offering strategies to compose rhythms and musical form assembly in Afro-Caribbean music.
Beavers holds an MM in Composition from Manhattan School of Music and received a 2019 GRAMMY® as Producer of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. He has been hailed by critics and fellow musicians as a leading trombonist of his generation and “an arranger of the first-class” (Harvey Siders, JazzTimes).
Orange Hall is located at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview Avenues; GPS: 24 Grandview Avenue, Middletown, NY. Free parking is available in the Orange Hall parking lot.
