Watercolor master class offered exclusively to art students....

Wednesday, 2 November, 2022
5:00 PM - 7:30 PM

“Watercolor is a fast medium. Watercolor is unforgiving; once it is on paper, it is there to stay.” These often-heard comments depict the medium as being challenging and for artists of, perhaps, advanced abilities. In contrast, watercolorist Linda Barboni describes watercolor as “a freeing experience.”…one to be “enjoyed by taking risks using different techniques and materials.” She also believes that new artists with little or no experience should try it out and take part in the “excitement [of] the loose-flowing spontaneity of pigment moving with water.”

Her master class, entitled Colors, Shapes, Textures: Vegetables from the Artist's Focus centers on common, familiar objects through the artists’ interpretations using watercolor.

Her positive approach creates an atmosphere of openness and explorationand willingness to try. She leads a productive master class by explaining the medium and giving a brief demo followed by setting-up a simple still life for participants to attempt. Within the timeframe of the session, she increases the number of objects, varying shapes, sizes, and colors while sharing technique and critiquing in a gentle manner.
