“A Call to Life,” a suicide awareness and prevention program

Please join us on Thursday, November 10th from 2 pm-3 pm for “A Call to Life,” a suicide awareness and prevention program with Active Minds speaker Michael Zibilich. The event will be in the Rowley Center for Science and Engineering, Gerry Forum, room 010. Register for your seat here.

Mental health and suicide stats:

  • 50% OF US will experience a mental health condition in our lifetime
  • 1 IN 5 ADULTS have a diagnosable mental illness
  • 39% of college students experience a significant mental health issue
  • ½ of all mental health issues begin by age 14; 75% begin by age 24
  • 67% of people 18-24 with anxiety or depression don't seek treatment
  • #2 LEADING CAUSE of death among young adults is suicide
  • 67% OF YOUNG ADULTS first tell a friend they are feeling suicidal before telling anyone else
  • 280 PEOPLE decide not to go through with a suicide attempt for every person who dies by suicide
  • mental illness is treatable and suicide is preventable


About Michael Zibilich

Michael lives with the tragic loss of his son, Michael “Keller” Zibilich, every day. Over the past 4 years, he has spoken about suicide awareness to thousands of university students across the United States where he captivates audiences by sharing “Keller’s” story, the last days and hours that led up to the inexplicable loss, and what it means to live in the aftermath of losing a child.
