Thursday, 1 December, 2022
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

The Wellness Center welcomes Active Minds speaker Kai Roberts to the Middletown Campus on Thursday, December 1st to present “Escape: Overcoming Anxiety and Intrusive Thoughts.” The presentation is open to the entire college community and the general public. It starts at 3 pm in the Rowley Center for Science and Engineering, Gerry Forum, Room 010. You may reserve your seat here.

Kai Roberts is a hip-hop recording artist, producer, and Marketing and Operations Specialist at Belong For Me. When he developed anxiety and panic disorder as a student at Carnegie Mellon, he discovered the healing power of writing about his feelings. He created a series of hip-hop lyrics to illustrate what he was going through.

With the intention of inspiring fellow students to work through college tribulations, his album, “Carnegie Café,” quickly became a resource for students dealing with mental health disorders and other stressors of life.

Kai has presented and performed all over the country, sharing personal stories of persevering through anxiety and creating positive conversations around mental health. In 2019, Kai released his second album, “The Great Escape.” As a previous sufferer of anxiety, Kai is a spirited performer and speaker passionate about uplifting his audience.

Active Minds is the nation’s premier nonprofit organization supporting mental health awareness and education for young adults. Since 2009, Active Minds speakers have been providing engaging, encouraging, and safe mental health education that’s tailored for students, young adults, educators, professional groups, and other audiences. Active Minds is opening up the conversation about mental health and creating lasting change in the way mental health is talked about, cared for, and valued in the United States.
