Some alarming statistics:

• Over 96,000 people die from drug overdoses every year, and opioids are a factor in 70% of those deaths. 
• Opioids kill more than 136 Americans every day.
• The national OD death rate increased by 255.74% between 2000 and 2019.
• Heroin OD death rates increase at an average annual rate of 55.7%.
• Deaths due to synthetic opioids like Fentanyl are on the rise, with an overdose rate in 2019 that was 12 times higher than in 2013.
• More than 36,000 people died from synthetic opioid (Fentanyl) overdoses in 2019.

To help arm us in battle against this epidemic, Hudson Valley Community Services will be joining us at our Newburgh Campus on 2/14 for a training on how to use Narcan to help prevent opioid overdoses.
