Get your jeans on! National Denim Day is April 26th

Wednesday, 26 April, 2023
8:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Wear jeans with a purpose! Stand up against sexual assault, violence, and victim blaming.

What is Denim Day?

Denim Day is a campaign in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court, where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. For 24 years, the Denim Day campaign has helped to bring awareness to victim blaming and destructive myths that surround sexual violence.

For questions and resources regarding sexual assault, please contact the Wellness Center at (845) 341-4870, wellnesscenter@sunyorange.edu, or stop by our office in the Shepard Student Center.
