Internationally acclaimed as one of the finest string quartets, The American String Quartet will grace the stage of the William and Helen Richards Theatre at Orange Hall on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 3pm.

Formed in 1974, the Quartet is playing into its fiftieth year. Violinists Laurie Carney and Peter Winograd, cellist Wolfram Koessel, and violist Daniel Avshalomov comprise the esteemed ensemble. Carney is an originator and was still a student at the Juilliard School at its formation. Avshalomov joined shortly after a few years.  Hailed by Strad Magazine as “one of the finest occupants of that chair [viola], both instrumentally and musically of any quartet now active,” Avshalomov is in his final year and will retire a year from now.

Come to the performance and enjoy classical music played at its best. Selections include works by Haydn, Brahms, and Ravel.
