Be a Lifesaver! Join the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry

Wednesday, 14 February, 2024
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

February is National Donor month!

Have you ever wanted to save a life? On February 14th, you can become part of a growing movement to help strangers in need. SUNY Orange has already been the source of two donor matches. Let's keep the streak going!

The Gift of Life Marrow Registry is a nonprofit organization established in 1991. It is dedicated to saving lives by facilitating blood stem cell and bone marrow transplants for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood-related diseases.

Staff from The Gift of Life will be set up in the lobby of the Kaplan building on the Newburgh Campus on Wednesday, February 14th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

If you are interested in signing up to be a potential marrow donor, stop by their table. The process is painless and takes just minutes! It's a simple swabbing inside your cheeks and a registration form you complete on your phone. Ideal candidates are between 18 to 35 years old, but everyone is welcome.

There are currently more than 431,000 registered donors, and there have been over 25,000 donor matches. The more registered donors, the more likely it is that someone in need can find a match. Please take 5 minutes and stop by Kaplan on Valentine's Day to get swabbed!

If you have any questions about the process, please visit The Gift of Life Website at Gift of Life.
