We Start To Sing!

Award-winning and beloved children’s theatre company, THE PAPER BAG PLAYERS, has been creating imaginative worlds from paper and cardboard since 1958. Their 66th season introduces a joyful new show, We Start To Sing! The show bursts with zany stories, audience participation, sing-along songs, foot-stomping dances, larger-than-life characters plus bringing art to life on a giant easel. It’s a funny, friendly, and thrilling hour of theater for both children ages 3 through 9, and their family and friends…actually anyone who appreciates creative, live theatre.
The Paper Bag Players troupe, comprised of four actors and a production supervisor, come to entertain and inspire on Sunday, February 2. The hour-long performance starts at 2pm in the William and Helen Richards Theatre in Orange Hall, SUNY Orange. Free parking is available in lot #1 which is adjacent to Orange Hall. GPS: 24 Grandview Ave. Middletown at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview Avenues. The Box Office opens at 1pm the day of the performance. We Start To Sing! was created by Co-Artistic Directors Kevin Richard Woodall and John K. Stone and The Paper Bag Players Creative Team. Directed by Kevin Richard Woodall with musical direction and composition by John K. Stone, Production Supervisor James Huggans chauffeurs the cast and brings the scenery all of which was made by scenic designers Florencia Escudero and Jonathan Peck.
With composer/pianist John K. Stone on keyboard, actors Erika Mesa and Abby Huff, and John Stillwaggon* and Kevin Richard Woodall* (*both Actors Equity Association members) bring to life the lively, imaginative skits that always include a lesson in life.
Songs connect the many actions in the play from morning to night. Titled “Rise and Shine,” “Spin-A-Dance,” “Ants in My Pants,” and “A Day on the Lake” the songs and accompanying dances give us a hint of what is in store.
