The final presentation in the Spring Lecture Series: Local Wildlife and their Prehistoric Ancestors, is scheduled on May 5^th. (Yes, we have a gathering on May 12^th, but that is a Wildlife Town Hall and a “meet the representatives of local environmental organizations” opportunity.)

The May 5^th presentation is truly a finale.

We will start off with a brief presentation on The Anthropocene. Dr. Walter Jahn will explain how humans are impacting the environment including their involvement in one of the worst mass extinctions!

Then, we proceed to “Walking up the Stairway of Time” which gives perspective to what Dr. Jahn has taught us this semester. Each step marches us through the evolution of life and geologic history. In addition, on the walls, Dr. Jahn has attached large illustrations of the creatures and events of these eras.

Each Era is color-coded: Precambrian ~ yellow; Paleozoic ~ blue; Mesozoic ~ green; Cenozoic ~ pink. The steps, QR coded handrails, and Visual Graphics denote millions of years.

Participants may go at their own pace under the guidance of the professor.

You are encouraged to come in-person in order that you will have the opportunity of “Walking up the Stairway of Time.”

We will start in the Rowley Center for Science and Engineering, room 128. There, Dr. Jahn will give a brief presentation in preparation of the Stairway session. Then, he will leave the laptop behind, and we will meet in the hallway at the bottom of the staircase and proceed on the Walk.
