Sunday, 16 February, 2025
1:00 PM - 4:15 PM
Saluting the North East Watercolor Society (NEWS) is the title of the show which Cultural Affairs at SUNY Orange is producing mid-January through mid-March. A total of 93 paintings are displayed in this show. The venue is Orange Hall Gallery where NEWS members’ shows have been displayed during the past twenty years.
Highlighting this show, Saluting NEWS, are artworks by nine of the originators and well-known artists of the NEWS art organization. In addition, twenty-nine artists are showing their works.
The Reception with the art demonstration, Using photo reference to tell your story effectively in Watercolor, is scheduled on Sunday, February 16 from 1 to 4:15pm. Lively music will be provided by Geoff Hamburg, pianist.
The art demonstration, which is an hour-long program, starts at 2:30pm and will be given by award-winning watercolorist Marilyn Rose who is a member of Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the Northeast Watercolor Society, the New Jersey Watercolor Society, and the Garden State Watercolor Society.
The superb exhibit offers the college community and the community-at-large the opportunity of viewing many interpretations of the use of the watercolor medium. The sizes of the paintings vary a great deal from miniatures to large full-sheets.
Please note: the reception and demonstration and exhibit are free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the lot #1 which is adjacent to Orange Hall and located at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview Avenues, (GPS: 24 Grandview Ave.) on the Middletown campus of SUNY Orange.
