Alcohol, Drugs, and Your GPA: A Wellness Workshop
Thursday, 27 February, 2025
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM
You may already know that alcohol and drug may have negative effects on a student's physical and mental health, but did you know it may also have a dramatic impact on their GPA?
About one in four college students report academic consequences from drinking, including missing class, falling behind in class, doing poorly on exams or papers, and receiving lower grades overall.
Students may suffer from many physical health consequences as well, including hangovers, nausea, injury, negative effects on their immune system, and risk of overdose or death.
They may also experience poor mental health, decreased cognitive performance, short-term memory loss, addiction, or increased risk of suicide.
Lastly, alcohol and drug use may increase the possibility of risky behaviors like unsafe sex, violence, accidents, and potential health problems due to substance abuse.
Please join the Wellness Center for an informative workshop on Alcohol, Drugs, and Your GPA presented by ADAC (Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council) on Thursday, February 27 at 3 pm in the Shepard Student Center, Fireside Lounge.
This event is free. Snacks will be provided.
