Challenges in the Midst of Poverty

The Regional Economic Community Action Program, Inc. (RECAP), in collaboration with the Behavioral Sciences, is pleased to invite you to the "Challenges in the Midst of Poverty" Conference, scheduled for May 1 at the Rowley Center, Room 010, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. This event aims to provide valuable insights into overcoming adversity and acquiring new perspectives and strategies for effecting meaningful change. A series of workshops will be held throughout the day.

The keynote speaker will be Joe Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of The SKID Row. He will discuss the critical importance of family and community support in his journey of overcoming a lifelong struggle with substance use disorder and mental illness. Through the account of his remarkable transformation, attendees will be reminded that every individual possesses significant potential. Participants will leave the event inspired to foster safe environments for others to learn, grow, and change.

 Registration for the conference, which includes a light breakfast, will commence at 8:00 a.m., with the program scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. There is no fee for attendance for SUNY Orange students and faculty.
