A Lifetime’s Pastime

Tuesday, 17 June, 2025
8:00 AM

Anne W. Kelly is a remarkable woman. An octogenarian, she continues to be involved in community organizations and family functions. She is an independent person who lives and loves life and has learned through experience how to live productively  through life’s difficulties. She has the respect of family, friends, and others almost all of whom are younger than she because she is always ready to “pitch in” and help and share her time and support.

Art has been a constant in her long life, from childhood through the present, both learning its history, and creating it. Reflecting on art in her life, she states, “I still get great satisfaction when I complete a portrait and it looks like the person, and I am grateful that I have been given the talent to continue my pursuit at my age.”  Art has provided time for herself and offered her opportunities to connect with many people: those of whom she has created portraits or of their relatives or others who have enjoyed her renditions of local scenes and buildings.

One of her favorites for which she has given thousands of hours is the Middletown Art Group (MAG). So, it is appropriate that her solo show should be exhibited alongside MAG in Orange Hall Gallery and in Middletown, the city in which she has lived the greater part of her life..

A Lifetime’s Pastime is the short yet very descriptive title of her show which offers a peek into Anne W. Kelly’s life. The timeframe of the exhibit is May 8 through June 17, 2025. The venue is Orange Hall Gallery Fringe at SUNY Orange, Middletown campus. Come to the Art Reception she will share with MAG on Sunday, May 18 from 3 to 5pm. In fact, that is the last of the days of the gala weekend celebrating the 75th anniversary of SUNY Orange ~ Orange County Community College.

The reception will be kept lively by the varied selections of contemporary music, show tunes, and jazz standards played by Bev Poyerd, pianist and Al Ramos, bassist.

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

If you can’t make it to the reception, visit the gallery during regular gallery hours:  Monday through Thursday - 8am to 8pm and Friday - 8am to 5pm through May, and Monday through Thursday - 8am to 6pm only in June. The gallery is closed Memorial Day Weekend.
