Course Offerings

Fall 2025 Courses

Welcome to Encore’s Fall 2025 course offerings.  These learning opportunities are scheduled within the college’s academic calendar; they are assigned to available areas after the credit classes have been scheduled.  This scheduling is completed at least two months before classes begin.

So, as you consider what to register for, please note carefully the dates, times, and places for each offering.  Then register for those offerings that fit within your own calendar and commitments.  Neither Encore nor its instructors can make changes after that.  The only exception would be a college-wide postponement, cancellation, or rescheduling i.e. snow day.

Check the SUNY Orange website for closing updates

PLEASE NOTE:
Changes have occurred since the original catalog was issued.  Please contact the office if you have any questions. Encore’s office phone number is (845)341-4896 or encore@sunyorange.edu

HISTORIC 1968 TEACHER STRIKE

In 1968, the conflict that erupted over control of the NYC public schools was centered in the Black and Puerto Rican community of Ocean Hill- Brownsville.  It triggered the largest, longest and ugliest citywide teacher strike in US history.  That clash, between the communities of color and the 92% white union, paralyzed the nation’s largest school system, pushed racial tensions to a new high and undermined the city’s economy When the strike was imminent, Charles left law school to teach mathematics in Ocean Hill -Brownsville.  Despite his pro-union leanings, he crossed the picket lines of teachers who looked like him, joining forces with parents and children who did not.
