Teaching Assistant Certificate Program

Program Description

This 25-credit certificate program develops professional career skills needed for students pursuing support positions in varied educational settings. All courses also apply toward an Associate Degree AND the Jointly Registered Teacher Education Program, AND as preparation for New York State Teacher Assistant Licensure and Certification.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students will:

• Communicate effectively both in oral and written formats.
• Articulate a beginning philosophy of education, and demonstrate an awareness of the role of diversity in education.
• Exhibit a beginning understanding of child development.
• Demonstrate foundational knowledge of and an appreciation for the cultural, social, and natural worlds.
