MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – SUNY Orange students Glynis Halliday and Jennifer Tancin have been selected to represent the College by offering presentations at the Northeast Regional Honors Council’s annual conference to be held virtually in April.

The two are the latest SUNY Orange students who applied, and were accepted, to deliver research presentations at the three-day conference of honors students from two- and four-year colleges and universities.

The Northeast Regional Honors Council (NRHC) is an organization of students, faculty, and administrators from more than 200 colleges and universities dedicated to the encouragement and support of undergraduate honors learning. It provides members with opportunities for the exchange of information, ideas, and assistance through its annual conference, its newsletter, and its scholarships.

Halliday, a nursing student from Cornwall on Hudson, will present her research paper “Logging in to the World of Sex Work: Questions and Answers” which examines the changing paradigms and locations of sex work through social, legal, and economic lenses, as well as what these changes mean for the future of sex workers and society.

Tancin, of Fishkill, will present “The Unasked Question: How Can We Care for Healthcare Workers,” which addressed whether healthcare workers suffer from mental illnesses like anxiety, depression and even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of their participation in crisis situations. Tancin is pursuing an associate’s degree in liberal arts with a focus on biology.
