Aquino Named All-American

April 8, 2022

SUNY Orange Colts freshman forward Romeo Aquino (Salisbury Mills, N.Y.) was named Second Team All-American in Division II men's basketball by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for the 2021-2022 season. Selected annually, the All-American team is comprised of the top 30 student-athletes across the nation.

Aquino led the Colts' offense – the nation’s most prolific scoring team (95.8 points per game). He was the NJCAA DII's second most accurate field goal shooter, hitting an impressive 69% from the field, while making 75% of his free throws. He averaged 20.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.

In addition to his All-American recognition, Aquino was also named First Team All-Conference by the Mid-Hudson Conference, where he was joined by teammate Kevin Stein (Chester, N.Y.). Additionally, the Colts' Nick Molina (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Tim Linton (Pine Bush, N.Y.) were named to the All-Conference Second Team.

The Colts (19-2) finished the regular season as the NJCAA DII's 12th-ranked team in the nation. They advanced to the Region XV final before falling to Sullivan County Community College 83-66.
