A select group of SUNY Orange CSTEP students, including Norma Brickner, Stephanie Caceres, Areli Cruz Daza, Jadel Estiverne, Jakoi Jamison, Xavier Martinez-Paredes, Samantha Ramnarine, Matthew Toro, Marcelis Wakely, Taniaa Williams and Mark Youssef, will participate in summer research at SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Purchase, University of Massachusetts Lowell, and Washington State University. These coveted opportunities provide critical learning, the chance for mentorships, and networking off campus.

CSTEP is available thanks to a New York State Education Department grant-funded program to increase the number of students from historically underrepresented minorities and economically disadvantaged students studying in selected curricula, STEM fields and those that lead to New York state-licensed professions.

SUNY Orange recognizes the magnitude of our student's accomplishments as they take their place in highly competitive summer research programs. Each school has unique specifications, such as students living on their respective campuses and working full-time in a research lab for 5-10 weeks. They will receive a stipend and present their research at various symposiums and conferences while gaining invaluable experience. Their topics range from studying wind farm acoustics and their effect on people to the antifungal properties of plants using essential oils and studying the E. coli membrane.

Congratulations to all the summer research participants as they satisfy their intellectual curiosity and grow in their fields of interest.
