Student Celebrations Tied to SUNY Orange’s 75th Anniversary

September 17, 2024

SUNY Orange kicked off the Fall 2024 semester with a series of student Week of Welcome events tied to the College’s 75th Anniversary year in both Middletown and Newburgh. Vivid blue anniversary banners were hung on both campuses setting the celebratory stage and announcing this important milestone.

The Center for Student Involvement gave students free t-shirts showcasing the College’s 75th logo design with the slogan, “Transforming Lives for 75 Years,” on the front while the back is a nod to the wearer as going through the experience with the phrase, “Transformation Loading” over a series of indicator lights.

Asked if he had any advice for new students, Marco Evans, Colt Men's Basketball player said, "This is a beautiful campus," before continuing, "Use your resources. If you need help, go tutoring."

Ice Cream Bowl

College community volunteers donned eye-catching embroidered aprons and manned the ice cream bowl anniversary celebration. They served various ice cream flavors and toppings to hundreds of SUNY Orange students on both campuses. The bowls were blue baseball hats featuring the orange anniversary logo and were highly sought after as souvenirs.

The Wheel of Prizes was set up during the day and evening at multiple locations across both College campuses. Students would spin the wheel to possibly receive anniversary-related prizes such as hats, candy and stickers, gift cards and more.

Upcoming Center for Student Involvement events also calling out the College’s milestone include a Fall Time with BOA with cider donuts, apple cider and a pumpkin painting contest with a special SUNY Orange 75th Anniversary twist (Oct. 9 on the Newburgh campus and Oct. 16 in Middletown).

In November, those who bring in winter gear (hats, gloves, scarves, etc.) as a donation for those in need will receive a SUNY Orange 75th Anniversary ornament.

For December, meet at the magnificent Morrison Hall for a charming horse and carriage ride around the green to celebrate the history of our campus on Dec. 4 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
