CDL Trailer to Carry College Colors, Messaging
September 4, 2024MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – As trainees in SUNY Orange’s ongoing Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) courses learn their craft on the highways and byways of the Hudson Valley in the coming months, the trailer attached to their rig will carry the College’s colors and messaging promoting academic degree programs as well as SUNY Orange Plus trainings and certifications.
The newly wrapped trailer is adorned with colorful images on both sides, as well as the rear doors. One side promotes the College’s academic degree programs with a photo of graduates, along with the taglines “Your Path Begins Here” and “Our Degrees are Local, Affordable, and Accessible.” The other side showcases SUNY Orange Plus programs with images of workers in various sectors, along with the taglines “Your Path Continues Here” and “Affordable, Flexible, and Convenient Programs.” The back doors feature a photo of SUNY Orange’s Middletown campus. All three wrapped areas also include College logos, appropriate phone numbers and web addresses.
“Our CDL courses are in high demand, so why not take advantage of the visibility a branded and wrapped trailer can provide the College as we train tractor-trailer drivers,” said Dr. Jean Leandre, SUNY Orange’s vice president for workforce, strategy and innovation. “The design is vibrant and contemporary, and we elected to use each side differently to broaden awareness of all that SUNY Orange has to offer. Between local training runs and trips to various road-test locations across the state, this trailer will take our message to thousands of motorists and pedestrians.”
The trailer design was a collaborative effort between SUNY Orange and 23 Marketing Group, the College’s marketing consultant and partner led by president Tony Morino who assigned the task to his senior graphic designer Kelly Brower. 23 Marketing Group worked with Leandre as well as Mike Albright, executive director for communications, and his team from concept inception to completion.
“I want to thank Mike and his staff, as well as 23 Marketing Group,” Leandre said. “Mike proposed the idea of wrapping the trailer and Kelly’s design delivered on our vision for it. And I appreciate Ancora Training allowing us to undertake this project with one of its trailers. I can’t wait for people to see it on the road.”
In addition to CDL courses, SUNY Orange Plus delivers programming for Hudson Valley residents interested in pursuing certifications in selected healthcare, food, beverage, hospitality or advanced manufacturing areas. Programs are designed to meet student needs with affordable, flexible, and convenient courses allowing them to access quality training. Courses are crafted to efficiently train or upskill students so they can compete for rewarding careers with sustainable salaries and comprehensive benefits.
The Class A Truck Driver training curriculum, offered by the College in partnership with Ancora Training, provides students with the skills to inspect and operate tractor-trailers. Emphasis is placed on vehicle inspections, defensive driving, range maneuvers, motor carrier safety regulations, trip planning, cargo handling, size/weight laws, and general maintenance procedures.
This Fall, weekday CDL Class A training courses, involving four weeks of courses, will begin on the following dates: Sept. 16, Oct. 14, Nov. 12 and Dec. 9, while weekend CDL Class A courses start on Oct. 5 and Nov. 30.
