SUNY Orange, SUNY Cortland Sign Transfer Agreement

September 25, 2025

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – SUNY Orange and SUNY Cortland have finalized a transfer agreement that creates a seamless pathway for students pursuing a business administration degree at SUNY Orange to easily continue their studies at SUNY Cortland.

Through this agreement, students who complete an Associate in Science degree in Business Administration at SUNY Orange will be able to transfer directly into SUNY Cortland’s Bachelor of Science program in Business Economics with junior status.

The partnership is designed to strengthen academic opportunities at SUNY Orange, attract highly qualified students to both campuses, and simplify the transfer process. Benefits include a waiver of Cortland’s General Education requirements (not SUNY GE requirements), access to dedicated transfer advising, and clear guidelines for program completion.

To be eligible, SUNY Orange students must earn their associate degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5, complete SUNY Cortland’s admission process, and meet program-specific academic requirements. Students may transfer up to 64 credits from SUNY Orange, with at least 30 credit hours and half of the major coursework to be completed in residence at Cortland.

The agreement went into effect and will remain in place through April 2028, with annual reviews to ensure alignment between the two programs.
