SUNY Orange Plus Offering CNA Course

November 17, 2025

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Developed in response to the region’s growing need for qualified healthcare professionals, SUNY Orange Plus announces the launch of its new Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program, offering students an accessible and affordable pathway into one of the most essential roles in healthcare.

As part of the program launch, which included the debut of the first course that began on Oct. 27, the College also announces the hiring of Myra Perez as CNA Program Coordinator. Perez will lead the program’s implementation and oversee student training and clinical partnerships. Enrollment for the next course is under way now, with classes to begin in January.

The CNA program prepares students to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients in hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and home care environments. This program will provide training that leads directly to meaningful employment. Certified nursing assistants are a vital part of any healthcare team, and students will gain the skills and confidence to enter the workforce quickly and effectively.

Students will receive a blend of classroom instruction, laboratory simulation, and supervised clinical experience, ensuring they are fully prepared to successfully complete the New York State Nurse Aide Certification Examination.

Offered through SUNY Orange Plus, the College’s workforce development and certification training division, the program emphasizes flexibility and practical experience. Classes are held on the Newburgh campus with multiple start dates throughout the year.
